Some Taiwan fauna I encountered

This one was interesting. It's an enormous wasp, the Asian Giant Hornet (Vespa mandarinia), and it's a very scary beast. When I saw this first one I actually thought it was a disguised drone - it looked too big and plasticky to be biological!







And here's a real drone! Our guide Tommy kept trotting it out when we were on mountain tops. He made triumphant videos of the Australian hikers doing their stuff. One of them is here on Youtube:
