Exercise park of Lockdown 2 - No.104: Waitara's Orara Park

It's right next to the bigger park, Waitara Oval, which is being dug up at the moment. I was only dimly aware of this one, and thought of it as a private little space for the apartment blocks that surround it.

But no, it's quite public, and it's a nice little space. One family was even doing genuine exercise, consisting of lots of 50m laps on the rectangular bit.

Covid countdown - Waitara Creek

Waitara Creek runs from the western edge of Waitara, past Normanhurst Park, and down to Berowra Creek.

It's long been my plan to explore the 2km bit between the park and the Hornsby to Westleigh link track (the Dog Pound Creek one). I thought it might involve a fairly strenuous bush bash. Today was the day to find out.

Surprise surprise, it's actually quite easy. There's a  good track along most of it, and nothing very hard anywhere. At one point there's an interesting descent around a waterfall, which is done with the aid of some handy ropes.

The only negative was the smell around the sewerage pipe that you follow for a while.

Covid countdown - Waitara Park

This one has also been drastically renovated since I last inspected it. Just as with West Epping Park yesterday, there used to be a rather tired bowling club there. Plus there was a slightly tired Mark Taylor Oval. The oval is still there, nicely spruced up. 

On the north side of the oval, the bowlo has been replaced by a shiny new tennis centre, and on the southern side, a rather spectacular PCYC (Police & Citizens Youth Club) has sprung up. It's got gyms and things.
